Weekly Blaze PodcastEpisode 114March 30 2020
Staying SecureWhen Working From Homewith Kevin Johnson
In these unprecedented times, working from home while also dealing with kids and your significant other also at home can be a very stressful time on your family. Given that we're all stuck inside and also stuck on our smartphones and mobile devices, it's not a bad idea to get off the grid by taking a walk with your family, playing a board game, and of course turn off your TV so that you can have a good family conversation. And a great tool that you can use to help get you and your family off the grid is by using a Silent Pocket faraday sleeve which blocks all wireless signal giving you an easy way to quickly get off the grid so you can focus on what matters most, your family. In this episode, co-host Tom Eston is joined with frequent guest Kevin Johnson to discuss how to stay more secure when working from home. Here's a summary of what we discussed on the show but be sure to

Work from Home Best Practices
Use a laptop and mobile phone given to you by your work. Use a personal laptop for personal stuff, don't mix the two. If you don't have a official work laptop, consider using an iPad or another device for video chat or calls with your team and asking your company about any HR or Information Security Policy that applies to you.
Use your corporate VPN. It's preferred to not use split tunneling and make sure all network traffic goes through your corporate VPN. This is another reason to make sure you're not mixing personal use with your work.
Be careful what you click on. There is a huge uptick in phishing attacks and scams targeting people working from home now because of COVID-19.
Try and relax, find time to go out for a walk or workout. Stress, because of isolation, can lead to making mistakes with your cybersecurity. The health of you and your family need to come first!
